The Devil’s Garden is always keen to offer as much as possible to the masses of chilli lovers out there, one of the most demanded brand being Chilli Pepper Pete. From hot sauces to oils, chilli or curry paste and numerous chutneys, Chilli Pepper Pete has a really good understanding of what the public likes and more importantly what chilli addicts love but don’t know it yet!

Take Chilli Pepper Pete’s Naga 12 Pod Oil for example. Of course we have all heard or tasted chilli oil but just imagine having a good quality oil in your kitchen that has been crammed full with extremely potent and slightly worrying naga pods? Chilli Pepper Pete’s Piri Piri oil is a condiment we already love using on a daily basis but its Naga 12 Pod is something else! We only use a few drops to flavour a dressing and get of course a lot of heat. The great thing with Chilli Pepper Pete’s chilli oils is that time and time again you can just top them up with good quality oil when the bottle is empty therefore getting really good value for money.

One of Chilli Pepper Pete’s bestsellers that sent everybody crazy when stock ran out a few months ago is Sphincter Shrinker. As its name indicates this hot sauce is not to be taken lightly! Although we haven’t experienced such a physiological response (yet!) to the ingestion of this hot sauce we are still being very careful with it although it’s so good that we are always tempted to have just that little bit more to take us over the edge of chilli madness. The flavour of Sphincter Shrinker is amazing though as fresh green chillies have been mixed with urfa flakes (a type of smoked chilli pepper), green raja naga, tamarind, paprika and ancho extract, blended in with soya sauce, prunes, onions and garlic. You might be tempted to think that so many flavours might counteract each other in one hot sauce but on the contrary, you would be amazed at how tantalising the smell alone is so for the taste... it’s up to you to decide!

It has taken us a long time to come across a chilli paste worth communicating to the general public so just wait until you try Chilli Pepper Pete’s Hotter Than Hell. Chilli Pepper Pete decided to create a concentrated chilli paste using all four families of chillies (we’ll spare you the science) so that each type of tastebuds (i.e sweet, sour, savoury, etc...) is contented. Some of the chillies contained in this devilish chilli paste are: white habanero, fatalii, rocoto, malagueta and a touch of extract to top it all up! We have used Hotter Than Hell as a condiment but we are still weary of its potency although we love the flavour!

British people do love their curries. Whether you like korma or always go for a Vindaloo, Chilli Pepper Pete’s curry pastes Goan To The Loo and Nagaloo are a real treat to have at home. The great thing is that these curry pastes can be used a little at a time as they keep well in the fridge. Chilli Pepper Pete dares anybody to try and use a whole jar of Goan to the Loo or Nagaloo in one sitting and even we at The Devil’s Garden, with an already noticeable high chilli content in our bloodstream, couldn’t do it. Goan to the loo uses coconut as a base along with various vegetables, spices, herbs, a hint of tamarind and oh just a touch of Naga Jolokia to liven things up so it’s great if you love the creaminess of Kormas with an added kick! Nagaloo is Chilli Pepper Pete’s take on a vindaloo and is therefore more tomato-y with a touch of cumin in the background, perfect with lamb!

We have been using Chilli Pepper Pete’s 2012 for a while now and just cannot get enough of it. It is everything you would expect from a good hot sauce and more: a touch of chilli extract, delectable habaneros and dried smoked Bih Jolokia as well as fresh jalapenos! Only a few ingredients form this great hot sauce but the balance of each chilli has been incredibly well manufactured to delight the senses although we recommend not trying this hot sauce on its own on an empty stomach!

So there you have it, a few of Chilli Pepper Pete’s products currently available at The Devil’s Garden that are to use and abuse time and time again, we surely do!
